A New Day

I'm finding it really hard to believe that we are already ending the first month of 2009. Life seems so full now, with family, school and sport functions, work and then there is everyday life, car accidents, kitties with medical issues, roof leaks, room and studio renovations, etc. No wonder this year is moving so quickly, everyday is filled to the brim and spilling over. And, it's not just me, it's everyone I speak to, everyone I meet. Hopefully we are all cramming into our schedules some peaceful down time too. I know I have to, or it would be much more difficult to get through these over-packed days with a smile!

My Addy, at not just another school function, a field trip to the Zoo!

Riley, Pixie and Casper!!!

What fun it was to have this session with a dog and two kitties this weekend!! So sweet!! This is Riley the Pugle, yes a pug/beagle mix. She has a ton of energy and is part of the Divine Doggy family. It was run, run, run, the entire time I was there. Whew:-) Then we have the beautiful and very sweet miss Pixie and her very shy little boy, well not so little really, Casper. He weighed in at a very lovable 26 pounds!! He didn't warm up to the camera as well as his mom did, but with a little help and persistence we prevailed!!

What a great way to start my morning!!

Paws for the Cause - Davis Island

This past Saturday I photographed the Relay for Life - Paws for the Cause on Davis Island in Tampa. There were several 'fur kid' friendly vendors, the Humane Society was there with some adorable adoptables and then the dog show. It was $10 to register your dog, in one of the many categories there were to choose from, and those monies went to the American Cancer Society. Here's a look at the day!

Volunteer Karen with adoptable Chihuahua/Pug mix, Jazzie!

This is Leo, Italian Greyhound, and his human Chris Mercer, founder of Flush Puppies the biodegradable dog doodie bags. Leo is a Canine Cancer Survivor, first diagnosed 5 years ago. Chris calls him his "$10,000 free dog". It's now been a year and half since the last incident!

Charlie, she's a Whippet. She and human Greg won 'Best Couple'!
This is the adorable little 'Pixie'! She won 'Best Kisser' and then went on to take home 'Best in Show'!!!
Here come the English Bulldogs. These squshy faces are always fun to photograph. This is Matilda Grace and...
... this is Georgia! Big Smile!
This happy little fella is Oliver, a Maltese/ Westie (West Highland White Terrier)
Next up is Gizmo, the Brussel Griffon/Boarder Terrier mix!
And then we have the pure breed Brussel Griffon, Monkey. He spent the day helping out his human, Chris, who was a vendor at the event with Canidae , an all natural dog food which Monkey has been on his entire life. That's one healthly little guy!
I so loved this adorable adoptable, Journey! She's a 4 year old American Eskimo mix and she so loved to have her chin scratched. She would practically drool in your hand!! So sweet!
Check out these eyes on Gromit, an Aussie/Husky mix.
Believe it or not, this Old English Sheepdog named Daisy, is only 7 months old.
Jennifer Fadal of "wag" Pet Boutique of Tampa was busy giving out treats to the eager participants. Seen here with CJ a blue nose Pit Bull Terrier and human Candace.
Unfortunately, I didn't get this 'fur kids' name, but I just could not pass up this expression. Looks like he or she is either praying or soaking up the sun. I just had to post it!!

Thanks to everyone who came out in support of the American Cancer Society!! It was a truly beautiful day to be out with the 'fur kids'!!

The Infamous Amy Cardy!

Amy and I met downtown to create head shots to promote her company Amy Cardy Productions. We took my favorite walking loop around the city and in one-hour got so much variety. We ended in one of my favorite alley's behind a seafood restaurant and it smelled like it!! You'll see Amy below as we were commenting on the scent!

This isn't the first time you've seen this beauty. Here she is last year when we photographed her with her adorable son!

2009 Relay For Life - Paws for the Cure

There is an event this Saturday the 17th that I wanted to let everyone know about. It's Paws for the Cure and it's at Davis Islands Sea Plane Basin Park. It takes place from 11a-2p. The dog show is from 12-1 and participation is $10. Canine Cancer survivors participate for FREE and all Dog Show registration monies go to The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Davis Islands.

There will be a Canine cancer survivor lap, adoptions, pet care professionals, photography and artists from the Tampa Bay area there as well.

I will be there capturing images for The New Barker magazine and hopefully getting lots of kisses from all the 'fur kids'!!

For more information go to The Event Homepage.

Hope to see you all there!

Maple, the beautiful Springer Spaniel!

Our first "Tails Collection" Session of the year!! This is Maple, a 10-yr old Springer Spaniel. She wasn't feeling well this morning, but she still held up really well for the hour-long photo session. She was pooped and curled up on her favorite couch and, of course, this is when some of my favorite shots were taken. She's really an angel! Thank you to Cheryl and Mark for having me over to photograph their baby girl and have a safe trip!!
