Nike at 12! - St. Petersburg Pet Photographer

What a pleasure photographing Nike this morning! He's 12 and his mommy came in talking about how listless he's been these past few days. She was so worried that he wasn't going to make it to the session. But he did, needed a bit of help up and down the two stairs into the studio and preferred the sun to the shade and loved his yummy animal cracker treats. You'll see his favorite snuggle, his pooh bear that is visibly well loved:-) What a sweet boy! Thank you for the smiles!

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.

Busy Bee! - St. Petersburg Portrait Photographer - People and Pets

I have to say, this has been an incredible holiday season so far. It's the first for us in the new studio and time on the blog has dwindled and I apologize. I'm on Face Book more these days. Please consider following us there as well, as much more new material is going up there more often. You can click on the Face Book tab to the left of this post. For now, I'm going to catch you up a bit on some of the images I've posted over there:-) Enjoy!

Oh, we are currently not taking anymore sessions this year but have already begun to schedule in January and February. Don't worry about the holiday cards, there's always Happy 2010 and then Happy Ground Hog's Day too!!

Alpha House of Pinellas Gala 2009 - St. Petersburg Photographer

This was my second year photographing The Alpha House of Pinellas County's Fall Gala, and once again the girls on the Gala Committee put together a beautiful event! The lights were twinkling, the energy was electrifying and the night full of hope. I'm honored to have contributed my time and talent to this wonderful cause.

The ALPHA House of Pinellas County!
The mission of ALPHA House is to provide housing and supportive services to homeless pregnant women and teens, new mothers with infants, and families experiencing crisis pregnancies. ALPHA House is Pinellas County’s only residential maternity program.

Since 1979, ALPHA has provided housing and support services to over 3000 women, teens and infants. Through the years, approximately 90% of those who have gone through the ALPHA House program made a successful transition into permanent housing and independent living.

Jethro the Bassett Hound - St. Petersburg Pet Photographer

Jethro came in last week for his puppy portraits. He is just 14 weeks old and is still a clumsy little guy. His ears are so long he walks on them at times and it was so funny to watch. A big Thank You to his mommy Vikki for bringing him. I look forward to photographing him as he grows!

Reappearing Act - St. Petersburg Portrait Photographer

Hi everyone! I have to apologize for the lack of posts this month. August had been a whirlwind and that's putting it mildly. Good, but jam packed! We started out the month with a bang and our first 'Tails of Summer' which brought in over $600 in cash and supplies for the Pet Pal Animal Shelter. That wraps me in big grins and warm fuzzies!! Shortly there after, we left on a week long, much needed, family vacation to Disney. My dad and niece joined us and we played all week long. I wasn't home two days and returned back to Orlando for the yearly Florida Professional Photographers Conference where two of my images won merits in print competition. This was my first year entering the state competition so this is thrilling for me! Michael and I have been taking all of our ideas and the education we receive from attending these events and turning them into amazing new things to come here at Tanya Sharkey Photography. We will be launching new things and tweaking current ones over the next 6 months. Really, my head is swelling, it's like a big balloon about to burst! So, I'm going to take a deep breathe and push forward because there's so much in store and I can't wait to introduce it all to you, our amazing clients! Thank you!

Prints that merited at Competition!

Tails of Summer Success - Pet Photography St. Petersburg, FL

Hooray for lots of sloppy wet kisses!! That's what I received a lot of at our First Annual Tails of Summer event earlier this month. By the end of the weekend, we had photographed 15 'fur kids' and raised over $600 in cash and supplies for Pet Pal Animal Shelter. For our first year, we are extremely happy with this result!! We even photographed Cosmo from Mail Dog. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of Pet Pal Animal Shelter, those of you who brought your 'fur kids' out, the whole team from Pet Pal, Pinky's Painted Cottage and my friends and family who helped me with the sessions! It was an absolutely amazing weekend for me both personally and professionally and something I've wanted to do for a long time. I'm already looking forward to next time.

Pet Portraits: Pasadena Pet Motel comes to the studio!

Kristen of the Pasadena Pet Motel and I are in the process of creating new Wall Art for the walls of the Grooming Room and Front Lobby of the PPM and of course we're using images of 'fur kids'. She brought her kids in last week, Panda the greyhound and Nemo the white Shepard. On the same day she also brought Barron her daughter's dog. She had asked me do a session with Barron for her daughter who is heading off to college and adores her dog. I had so much fun, they are loveable pups and it was such a joy to have them in the studio! Lot's of kisses and you know how I love those kisses!!

It didn't take too long before they all took a rest together:-)
