What a pleasure photographing Nike this morning! He's 12 and his mommy came in talking about how listless he's been these past few days. She was so worried that he wasn't going to make it to the session. But he did, needed a bit of help up and down the two stairs into the studio and preferred the sun to the shade and loved his yummy animal cracker treats. You'll see his favorite snuggle, his pooh bear that is visibly well loved:-) What a sweet boy! Thank you for the smiles!

Jethro the Bassett Hound - St. Petersburg Pet Photographer
Jethro came in last week for his puppy portraits. He is just 14 weeks old and is still a clumsy little guy. His ears are so long he walks on them at times and it was so funny to watch. A big Thank You to his mommy Vikki for bringing him. I look forward to photographing him as he grows!

Pet Portraits: Pasadena Pet Motel comes to the studio!
Kristen of the Pasadena Pet Motel and I are in the process of creating new Wall Art for the walls of the Grooming Room and Front Lobby of the PPM and of course we're using images of 'fur kids'. She brought her kids in last week, Panda the greyhound and Nemo the white Shepard. On the same day she also brought Barron her daughter's dog. She had asked me do a session with Barron for her daughter who is heading off to college and adores her dog. I had so much fun, they are loveable pups and it was such a joy to have them in the studio! Lot's of kisses and you know how I love those kisses!!

Pet Portrait Session and Pet Hurricane Safety : St. Petersburg, FL

Are you ready? Hurricane season officially began on June 1st. Make sure you have a plan for your beloved 'fur kids' if we become a target this year. The SPCA has a great article on their website to help you prepare. Here is the Survival Kit for your pets:
Pet Survival Kit
Have your pet's cage or carrier and a Doggy Disaster or Kitty Catastrophe Supply Kit prepared in advance regardless of evacuation requirements. Keep these items in a watertight container, insuring that they are easily accessible in the event of sudden evacuation. Be certain to label all items with a tag or waterproof marker. A pet survival kit is imperative whether evacuating or not, and should include the following items:
- Collar with tags & a sturdy leash and muzzle, if necessary
- Any necessary medications - 2 weeks supply
- Medical records & vaccination info
- First aid kit
- Food and water - at least 2 weeks supply
- Ziplock bags for treats and important papers
- Cat litter, pan, and liners
- Plastic trash bags to handle waste
- Newspaper and paper towels for clean ups
- Toys and other comfort items
- Photo of your pet

Baby chicks in the new Photography Studio: St. Petersburg
We can say goodbye to spring already being in Florida. It already feels like summer here! It was such a pleasure to have a final fling with Spring last week when KayLee, my neighbor from Pinky's Painted Cottage, brought over 5 day old chicks for me to photograph in the new studio!! They were so adorable, they huddled together for a while, probably wondering what was going on and what I was doing laying on the floor with them. Below is a grouping of some shots of them I love!!
Speaking of Summer. KayLee has put together some wonderful artsy camps for the kiddos to attend. Take a peek here!

Maple, the beautiful Springer Spaniel!
Our first "Tails Collection" Session of the year!! This is Maple, a 10-yr old Springer Spaniel. She wasn't feeling well this morning, but she still held up really well for the hour-long photo session. She was pooped and curled up on her favorite couch and, of course, this is when some of my favorite shots were taken. She's really an angel! Thank you to Cheryl and Mark for having me over to photograph their baby girl and have a safe trip!!

Mattie
I so love to photograph pets! It never seems like work at all following a dog around and getting kisses.
Thank you so much Jo Ann for asking me to come photograph your new baby, Mattie. What a sweet little girlie she is. It was my pleasure to be the one to introduce her to different areas of the house!

My Sweet Putter
What a week! A completely jam-packed, and emotional week to say the least. It seems whenever you're completely maxed out is when more is added to your plate and it's always worse when it's emotional. To know me is to know that my pets are a part of the family, for better or worse, and I love them with all my heart. Many of you understand this completely. My kitty, my love, Putter, was involved in a terrible trauma on Monday and it seems that he has severe nerve damage to his back end, including urination. He's been in and out of the emergency vet and his wonderful veterinarians at Gulf Animal Hospital many times this week and it's not over. He's on five different medications and there is an all too possible chance that the nerve damage will never recover. It's horribly sad for me to see him this way. He is the favorite to many friends and family that know him. He is a love in so many ways and it's hard to know how badly he was hurt and that his life may never be the same. I'm holding out hope on this newly introduced medication, to his regime, that he will pull through this. For those of you who don't know him, here's Putter!

SPCA Pet Walk - Calling all Dogs!
WARNING!! This post is too long and may cause heart palpitations and/or a lack of getting back to work. It is strongly advised that if you have a love of dogs that you proceed with caution!
This past Saturday was the SPCA's annual Pet Walk in Downtown St. Petersburg. It was estimated to attract aver 1000 dogs and their people. We were there with Dig Dog Art in booth 31, meeting and greeting all the canines and observing the great costumes. They came as clowns, sheriffs, jailbirds, ladybugs, angels, bumble bees, and they came showing support for the Rays! It was stimulation overload for them as well as for me. You couldn't turn around with out bumping in to another cute dog!
It wasn't long before they were hot and tired. They found relief in water bowls, in the shade and by laying on mounds of ice.
It was a wonderful Dog day!
