Miracles on 5th!

What a magical evening it was! This past Saturday night was the Fall Gala for the ALPHA House of Pinellas County. The event was held at the beautiful historic Coliseum on 4th avenue in St. Petersburg. I had the honor of photographing four of the little munchkins that currently reside at ALPHA House, I then took the pictures and designed a piece as a Live Auction item. It was so amazing to see the generosity pouring out to help the women and babies!

The ALPHA House is known as the "Miracle on 5th Avenue". They provide housing and supportive services to homeless pregnant women and teens, new mothers with infants, and families experiencing crisis pregnancies. Please visit their website for ways you can help!

Here's a peek at the event and of my piece that was kindly titled "Miracles on 5th"!

The Daytime taping!

Wow, where to begin. We really fell into this. In May, my husband and I took part in the Humane Society's Tuxes and Tails event which is where we met Lindsay MacDonald of Daytime. We were seated with her and her husband for dinner. What an amazing person she is and incredibly full of energy, just bursting and it's so contagious! Love her! Anyway, in talking, she thought our story would be great for the show. So that leads me to the present. Earlier this week we were taped for Daytime. I was so nervous! I like to be behind the camera!! So here is a glimpse of the day. I'll keep you all informed of the air date which will be sometime the end of October!

I was taped photographing this great little boy!

Me in action! Thanks to my friend Sue for getting some of these shots for me!

And again...

He's got the best room!

So excited! Stay tuned for the air date!!

Coastal Clean-up

This year we participated in the International Coastal Clean-up event put on by the Ocean Conservancy every third Saturday in September.

"Today, ... more than six million volunteers in 127 countries and all 55 U.S. states and territories.... On the third Saturday in September each year, the International Coastal Cleanup provides a direct and tangible way for individuals to make a difference for one of the largest problems we face, trash in the ocean". - Ocean Conservancy website. Just to give you some perspective on this event, take a look at these statistics found in the 2007 Coastal Clean-up report:

"In 2007, more than 378,000
volunteers participated in the
International Coastal Cleanup (ICC)
worldwide. These volunteers donated
their time to remove more than
six million pounds of debris from
over 33,000 miles of shoreline –
approximately 182 pounds of trash
collected per mile!"

What a great event to be a part of, especially living in Florida and being a frequent user of our beautiful beaches. We joined a group of hundreds at Ft. Desoto Beach and spread out for over two hours of garbage clean-up. We even brought the kids along and they took great pride in picking up "other peoples litter".

There were many great organizations that were integral parts of getting the volunteers together for this event including: Tampa Bay Watch, Keep Pinellas Beautiful and Clean Water Action. Large groups from different companies that I also noticed were Stetson, 97x and Coca Cola.

If you missed this event and would like to help out at one like it in the future, please go to the Keep Pinellas Beautiful website for the local Clean-up that happens in October.

Feliz primer cumpleanos!

This little Belle barely looked up the whole session, she was so excited to be walking and couldn't get enough of her watching her feet!! And if that weren't enough, she fell in love with her shadow. To be that young and be so fascinated by your own shadow. What simplicity! Thank you Toni and little Miss!

A bit of Roatan

We arrived home from our family vacation and I've been busy playing post vacation catch-up. So I stopped to take a moment to show you a few of my favorite shots of one of the beautiful islands we stopped at last week... Roatan. Roatan is located about 40 miles off the Northern Coast of Honduras, one of the Bay Islands group consisting of 3 main Islands (Roatán, Guanaja, and Utila), 3 smaller islands (Barbareta, Morat, and Helene), and 65 smaller cays. If you're interested in learning about Roatan History please click Here!

These are some of my favorite shots from the day. Enjoy!

He's a "Buster"!

You've just gotta love this little ball of cuteness. One of my very best friends brought this little guy home two weeks ago today! His name is Buster! He's a shoe stealer and a love! I'm sure you'll be seeing him again!

little baby *K*

What a sweet little girlie she is! She was stingy with her smiles and only saved those for her mommy, but she was edible regardless of what face she was wearing, even the not so happy ones! What a love!
